GULF OF MEXICO SITE SPECIFIC SUMMARY DATE: FRIDAY MAR 12 2010 TIME: 800 CST GULF OF MEXICO SUMMARY FOR DEEPWATER LEASES: Strong north to northwest winds will continue to spread across the leases behind a cold front that is currently moving east over the central Gulf. Winds become more westerly tonight and tomorrow, while steadily weakening, as high pressure moves into the southern Gulf. A second high pressure system will then begin to move into the central US, allowing for light north to northeast winds Sunday. EXTENDED OUTLOOK: Light to moderate northeast winds continue Monday then shift to the north and increase Tuesday as a low pressure system and cold front develop over the southern Gulf. North winds are expected to decrease Wednesday as the low exits the Gulf. Models indicate south to southeast winds to return Thursday and Friday. FORECAST CONFIDENCE: FAIR/MARGINAL SEVERE WEATHER OUTLOOK FOR DEEPWATER LEASES: Showers and thunderstorms will continue to develop over the eastern leases today. Some activity may spread into the central leases. Winds and seas will be higher in and around any of the stronger storms.
