GULF OF MEXICO SITE SPECIFIC SUMMARY DATE: SATURDAY MAR 20 2010 TIME: 800 CDT GULF OF MEXICO SUMMARY FOR DEEPWATER LEASES: Moderate southeast winds will continue over the Gulf today ahead of a strong cold front that will push off the Texas coast later this afternoon bringing very strong to gale force northwest winds behind it through Monday morning. Winds will gradually decrease on Monday as high pressure builds into the region. EXTENDED OUTLOOK: The high will move east across the Gulf on Tuesday and Wednesday before the next cold front moves into Texas. Models indicate this front to move through the Gulf on Thursday and Friday bringing light north winds across the leases behind it. FORECAST CONFIDENCE: FAIR SEVERE WEATHER OUTLOOK FOR DEEPWATER LEASES: Showers and thunderstorms are expected to move into the western Gulf later this afternoon and into tonight ahead of an approaching cold front. Winds and seas will be higher in and around any of the heavier thunderstorms. Winds behind this front will increase to gale force tonight through tomorrow.
