Operational Meteorologist:
Weather Research Center, a non-profit educational and research group has an opening for an Operational Meteorologist. This is an entry-level forecasting position. The position is full-time and includes both weekday and weekend forecasting duties.
Weather Research Center provides services for offshore oil production in the Gulf of Mexico and locations worldwide and operates the nation's first Weather Museum. The entry-level position provides the applicant experience in the field of marine and tropical meteorology as well as daily operations and educational programs in the museum. Weather Research Center provides severe weather warning services and site-specific forecasts. Our services are both United States and internationally oriented.
The ideal candidate needs at least a B.S. in Meteorology. Applicants must possess strong communication and forecasting skills. We are looking for enthusiastic and self-motivated people. Knowledge of computer forecast models, radar and satellite imagery, word processing, spreadsheet, and graphics software a must. Awareness of time constraints is also essential. Some shift work is required to accommodate world wide forecast operations.
