PURPOSE
The Second National Flood Workshop is organized by Weather Research Center (a private, non-profit educational and research center based in Houston, Texas) and its partners. The purpose of this workshop is to bring together various agencies, emergency managers, academia, and professionals from across the nation to encourage dialogue on the various aspects of flooding. This includes the meteorological and hydrological conditions observed before, during, and after flood events, technological advancements being made in remote field data acquisition and flood modeling, and regulations and requirements in flood mitigation and floodplain management. Coastal and offshore operations are also impacted by flood events especially storm surge and high tides from tropical storm and hurricane eventsw which can cause flooding and damage. This year's conference will add a track where coastal and offshore facilities affected by tropical storm and hurricane events can come together and discuss flooding impacts on their operations.

01/15/2012 - Date on which early bird registration discounts end.  See registration fee schedule below. 
02/06/2012 - Hotel room block reservation deadline. Rooms may still be available after that date but not at the conference rate ($141). 
02/13/2012 - Date after which no full refunds for cancellation of registration.
02/20/2012 - Pre-Conference registration deadline. All registrations after 02/20/2012 must be completed at the conference. After this date, please send an e-mail to wrc@wxresearch.org of your intent to attend and we will try to ensure that you receive all conference benefits.
02/28/2012 - Experience the Houston Rodeo - Transportation, Dinner and Ticket to the Rodeo for Tuesday night.

REGISTRATION FEES

Pre-conference registration will close on 2/20/2012. Registrations received after that date will be processed on site.

Refunds/Cancellations: A refund of 50% of the registration fee will be given by Weather Research Center in the event of cancellation. Notification must be received by 2/13/2012.  Refunds after this date are not possible.

Rooms have been blocked at the Renaissance Hotel on 2/27/2012 through 3/1/2012 for the conference at a rate of $141 per night plus taxes. Government rates available upon request. The hotel will honor this rate for two days prior to 2/27/2012 and two days after 3/1/2012. Contact the Renaissance Hotel directly for hotel reservations by phoning 1-800-266-9432.
