PURPOSE
The National Flood Workshop is organized by Weather Research Center (a private, non-profit educational and research center based in Houston, Texas) and its partners. The purpose of this workshop is to bring together various agencies, emergency managers, academia, and professionals from across the nation to encourage dialogue on the various aspects of flooding. This includes the meteorological and hydrological conditions observed before, during, and after flood events, technological advancements being made in remote field data acquisition and flood modeling, and regulations and requirements in flood mitigation and floodplain management. The goal is to establish an annual national workshop to discuss flooding and related topics, provide educational and training courses, and most importantly to help reduce loss of life and property damage from floods.  

DATES TO REMEMBER

Short Courses: 10/24/2010 • Conference: 10/25-10/26/2010

09/01/2010 - Date on which early bird registration discounts end.  See registration fee schedule below. 
09/26/2010 - Hotel room block reservation deadline. Rooms may still be available after that date but not at the conference rate ($118). 
10/1/2010 - Date after which no full refunds for cancellation of registration.
10/18/2010 - Pre-Conference registration deadline. All registrations after 10/18/2010 must be completed at the conference. After this date, please send an e-mail to wrc@wxresearch.org of your intent to attend and we will try to ensure that you receive all conference benefits. 

REGISTRATION FEES

Pre-conference registration will close on 10/18/2010. Registrations received after that date will be processed on site.

Refunds/Cancellations: A refund of 50% of the registration fee will be given by Weather Research Center in the event of cancellation. Notification must be received by 10/1/2010.  Refunds after this date are not possible.

Rooms have been blocked at the Hotel ZaZa on 10/24/2010 and 10/25/2010 for the conference at a rate of $118 per night plus taxes. The hotel will honor this rate for three days prior to 10/24/2010 and three days after 10/25/2010. Contact Hotel ZaZa directly for hotel reservations by phoning 713-526-1991 or 1-888-880-3244.
